May Part 9

These are Jeremy's photos.  He had some good ones, so I thought I'd use them too. :)

Unfortunately, his camera lens broke, and so some of the pictures don't come out very good. :( I didn't use all of them, but I cut out the bad ones I take too, so...

Using my tablet while pulling out all the floss.  Great!

We moved Jeremy's, Joshua's, and my phones to Cricket from Verizon a few months ago, and in the last couple of months we moved Benji and Michael from Tracfone to Cricket.  That meant new phones for Jeremy, Benji, and Michael.  We who moved from Verizon still have the same number.  I'm glad we made the switch.  The service isn't always as good as Verizon, but the price is way better, and it's good to have everyone on the same plan.  Also, Cricket doesn't spring things on you like Verizon does.  I like that a lot.  Michael was really happy that they had a red case for his phone, because that's his favorite.  Also, I love that we have unlimited data now.  I think it's funny that I can't really use my data in the cardio room at the gym.  It gets pretty much no signal in there.  But I can get a signal in the weight room.  Ha!

Papa went to class with Henry while I went to class on Mother's Day.  Good thing because they always have crepes in Relief Society for Mother's Day! ;) He's a good Papa.

This was the day Asher was born.  We'd just arrived, and I just got a peek at Asher, and then his grandma came and took him over by Bre.  Grrr!  Ha ha!

Here's Jeremy, Rachel, and Susie waiting at the hospital in Phoenix

Cute Asher

I just have to say, I'm so proud of Joe and BreAnna.  I feel like they had done so well.  They've both grown up a lot, and they take such good care of their kids.  I feel like they're going to be just fine. :)

Walkway in the Chicago airport

Sleeping so great!

Made it to DC!

Canal in Georgetown

View from the bus

Either near or in Georgetown on the bus

this highway goes right over the regular road.  It's so funny!  They've considered moving the highway many times, but it gets used by too many people, so they've left it.

After we started walking we found this!  Jeremy was excited.  He's talked to his students about this place many times over the years.

This is that breakfast we were invited to.

George Washington Masonic National Memorial

Lunch!

Waiting for the bus that never came

National Botanic Gardens

You can kind of see Rolling Thunder going by behind all those people crossing the street.

I looked it up, and I believe that's the Arts and Industries Building, whatever that means.  I guess it's an art museum.

Washington Monument

There's big grass all around outside the fence too, and there were always people lounging around on the grass.

Another youth group

We were walking along, and Jeremy was excited about finding the Department of Commerce.  (Anything about money!)

After this there was a food truck parked right by there, and we got the pita and the cheese steak.

Batmobile inside the Museum of American History

Julia Childs's kitchen!!  I was so excited!

Talking to Hyrum, standing in this thing made of recycled wood outside the Museum of American History

Found this at the Lego store in the mall.  I wish we'd bought it for Benji.  He LOVES Batman.

You can see our trusty CVS lit up red across the street.  I was surprised how many times we ended up in a CVS, especially considering I've only been inside one probably once in my whole life before that.

A money exhibit at the Museum of American History

Heading in to the Museum of Natural History
(More youth groups ahead of us.  Argh!)

Big jellyfish

I like this one - the monk and the fish bones.  There were lots of fish skeletons of all sorts besides the ones in this case.

Emeralds (In the gems and minerals sections the gems were separated by gem type.)

Big quartz crystals!  They had some pretty ginormous ones in that museum.

Me runny from that tiger.  I had my back foot up, but it took too long for the picture to actually be taken.  Ha ha!

Walrus

Rhino and pangolin

Smithsonian Castle

Sitting outside the castle

Arlington Cemetery

This is that mausoleum thing that reminded me of a dream.

I wish I wasn't so dead.  Otherwise we'd have gone up that hill to see JFK's grave.  I think they have an eternal flame there.  Kind of cool.  I believe Ted Kennedy is buried there too.

Almost to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (not the most flattering picture, but I like that I was there, so I'll use it anyway. :) )

See how many sections there are?!  Crazy!

Map of Mount Vernon

The mansion

I love this one!

Hiking up to the mansion

My phone doesn't keep a charge as well as it used to.  I brought along a portable charger.  When my phone got low on power I whipped my charging cord out of my pocket and connected my phone to the charger.  It was super useful, and I'm so glad I had it!

That cherry tree again

Slave quarters and gardens around them

Back of the mansion with scaffolding

Servants' quarters

The new room

The candles were kind of cool.  The did give off light, but the flame was fake.  It was made of plastic, I think, and there must have been a little blower in there that made it bob up and down like a real flame.

Kitchen

Old Tomb

New tomb

There was a tiny stream here.  Jeremy took a video to capture the sounds of the stream and the birds.  You can't see the stream in the picture, though.

Sheep

Waiting at the dock

We went under this bridge going both ways.  I didn't take pictures of it, and Jeremy slept through it the first time, so he was surprised to come upon it on the return trip, and he took pictures.

Outside our hotel room

I think he took this early in the morning the day we left.

Waiting for the plane, but I can't remember which one.  We both wore our new shirts home. :)

Family pictures in our new shirts

Bubby and Harry's are way too big. Darn!  Oh, well

The end!
